Back home

Excitement inundated me when the pilot announced, in her thick Singaporean accent, that the plane was about to land. In Sai Gon.

Admittedly, the longing for landing was more due to tiredness than a desire to be home. Despite an unusually smooth flight, I found myself walking out of the plane utterly exhausted. Thankfully, the uncrowded customs area was conducive to my quick exit, and the hot, humid air of Sai Gon greeted me as soon as the glass entrance doors of the airport glided apart.

Immediately I felt a sense of unfamiliarity, which was but slightly dampened by fatigue.
